Issuance of Journalist Visa

Foreign journalists have the obligation to obtain, at the Peruvian Consular Office of their jurisdiction, a journalist visa for the normal development of their activities in Peru. The aforementioned visa gives the foreign journalist, the legal migratory faculty for the development of their activities in Peru and the entrance of the equipment necessary for their work exempt from the payment of taxes, if they are carriers of these*.

Requirements
  • To complete the form provided by the Consular Office (Peruvian and Foreign Press Accreditation Form), with black ink, including the signature.
  • To present the passport with a minimum validity of six (06) months counted from the entry into Peru.
  • Round trip ticket to Peru (ticket, electronic ticket or reservation).
  • Residence permit issued by Sweden or Denmark.
  • Signed letter from the media (written or translated into Spanish), presenting the media (news agencies, journalistic publications, radio, television stations and similar), accrediting the journalist (providing full names, passport number, telephone numbers, email addresses, etc. of each journalist), detailing the reason and duration of the trip; and specifying if they have special equipment.
  • In case of carrying journalistic equipment subject to customs declaration, it must be registered at the Consular Office (Form for Temporary Entrance of Professional Equipment).
  • Two (2) front-face passport-sized photographs in colours, with a white background and without glasses.
  • It is possible to send the aforementioned information in advance to the email address info@peruembassy.se; however, the original documents must be sent by certified post mail to the Embassy.
  • Personal interview scheduled by the Consular Office.

Observations
  • The presentation of the visa application and the required documentation does not guarantee the automatic granting of a visa. Each request is individually evaluated by the Peruvian consular officer.
  • During the processing of the application, the submission of additional requirements may be requested.
  • *Tax exemptions for equipment carried by journalists does not include "fly away" satellite transmission systems, microwaves or remote electromagnetic waves, which are taxed. Neither are exempted vehicles used for coverage purposes.
  • IMPORTANT: The citizens of Sweden and Denmark are exempted from the temporary visa requirement in the migratory status of journalist. The maximum period of stay is ninety (90) calendar days, either as a continuous visit or several consecutive visits, during a period of six (06) months.
